Where it comes from
A post or pillar in the sign lists — stated, as so often. Its Akkadian value tim made it a fixture of the written landscape: feminine and other -t- nouns in the genitive end in -tim (mātim, “of the land”; erṣetim, “of the earth”), so this sign holds up the back end of prepositional phrases all over the corpus.
How to remember it
A post is what things are fastened to — and the genitive is the case of belonging. Where the post stands at a word’s end, the word is tied to something: of the land, of the earth, of the year.
