Where it comes from
102’s mighty-sign — Sumerian kal(ag), “strong, precious.” Akkadian reads it dan, and for once the borrowed sound and the old meaning shake hands: dannum, “the strong (one),” opens on it in the most quoted line of Babylonian law — the commission that the strong not wrong the weak.
