Where it comes from
Three fox skins tied at the top — the classic identification. It writes ms, the sound of msi̯, “to give birth, be born,” and of “born of” in names: Ramesses is “Ra-bore-him,” Thutmose “Thoth-bore-him,” each carrying these skins.
How to remember it
Three skins knotted together — offspring bundled to a mother, the litter in one tie. Every royal name that ends in “-mose” or “-messes” was born through this sign.
