Where it comes from

Traditionally read as a heart with the windpipe rising from it — the identification is conventional, not certain. It writes nfr: “good, beautiful, perfect” — the word inside Nefertiti (“the beautiful one has come”) and half the flattering names of Egypt.

How to remember it

Beautiful is a lute-shaped charm of a sign — whatever organ it drew, it reads as everything Egypt wanted to be: good, lovely, complete. Queens wore it in their names like jewelry.
