| Means | a window in the lists |
| Taught in | 11 · An eye for an eye |
Where it comes from
The lists connect the frame-like shape with a window — graded unclear, as so many of the oldest identifications are. Akkadian reads it ab and ap, the final consonant softening to match its word, exactly as its neighbors AD and UG do.
How to remember it
A window looks out of a house the way a vowel looks out of this sign: open on one side. In law 196 it is the ap inside the court’s sentence — a small window in a dark verb.
