Where it comes from

A tall conical loaf — bread shaped for presenting, not eating. It writes ḏi̯, the short form of “to give”: the offered loaf standing for the act of offering itself. Its cousin D37 draws the arm doing the handing; this sign keeps only the gift.

How to remember it

The given loaf is the present with the giver cropped out — just the bread, mid-air, changing hands. Wherever gods or kings give life, bread, or breath, this little cone does the giving.
